27/08/2009 - Motorbike gang's £1m jewel haul
More than £1 million of gems and jewels have been stolen by six robbers in a raid on a store lasting less than a minute.
The gang smashed open display cabinets in Mozafarian in Knightsbridge, central London, after riding upto the store on three motorbikes.
A £500,000 diamond necklace was the most expensive item taken in the haul, according to store owners. Although the robbery came just weeks after the £40m raid on Mayfair jeweller Graff, police do not believe the two are connected.
Sokol Salia, Mozafarian boss, told The Sun: "We knew something was wrong when the motorbikes left the road and drove up on the pavement. There were six big guys with helmets and one smashed the door. "All you could hear was the din of broken glass. They came in and took almost everything. There was a huge panic."
Four staff and an elderly customer were inside during the raid but no one was injured.
