15/12/2009 - 30 evacuated over hair salon fire
Emergency services helped evacuate around 30 people from buildings in Bournemouth after a fire broke out at a hair salon.
It is believed that the blaze at Rage hair salon on Old Christchurch Road was caused by an electrical unit early in the morning.
Smoke from the fire entered the flats above the salon and as many as 20 adults along with three children were evacuated. Eight people from a nearby house were also asked to vacate the premises.
They were taken to the sports hall of the police station nearby and allowed to return home about two hours later.
Firefighters put out the blaze, which is not being treated as suspicious, and roads were closed during the operation.
