07/12/2009 - Posh dresses stolen during delivery

Thieves stole a collection of Victoria Beckham dresses heading for sale in New York as they were driven to Heathrow Airport, the singer-turned-designer's spokeswoman has revealed.

They broke into the vehicle as the van driver made a delivery and pushed him to the ground as they barged past to make their escape.

Dozens of dresses had been picked up from the offices of 19 Entertainment in west London and were heading for the shelves at Neiman Marcus in New York.

It is thought that the theft was planned, with the thieves following the van until it stopped for a delivery.

When the driver returned, he found the padlocks had been broken.

Two men burst out of the back of the van with two large boxes of dresses, knocking down the driver and leaving him shaken and bruised.

Police are investigating the incident and it is now hoped that the spring/summer collection can be remade in time for delivery to Neiman Marcus, the former Spice Girl's spokeswoman said.
