06/07/2009 - Fountain stolen in broad daylight

Cheeky thieves have stolen a stone fountain from outside a company's offices using a work van as a decoy.

As temperatures soared, thieves posed as workmen to steal the cooling water feature from the front of a computer firm in Hertfordshire.

The gang hauled the heavyweight fountain into the back of a white Transit-style van as staff worked inside the Road Tech Computer Systems offices in Radlett.

The thieves may attempt to sell the large white ornament on to other businesses in the area, according to police.

Pc Paul Francis said: "If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the stated time or if you have any information, I would ask that you get in contact as soon as possible.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered a fountain similar to the one described for sale."
