20/07/2009 - Four deny general store murder
Four men have denied murdering a sub-postmaster's son who was shot during an armed robbery at a family-run post office and general store in Worcestershire.
Anselm Ribera, 34, Adrian Snape, 25, Christopher Morrissey, 32, and his 33-year-old brother, Declan Morrissey, will face trial in October over the murder of Craig Hodson-Walker. The defendants also denied the attempted murder of Mr Hodson-Walker's father at Birmingham Crown Court.
Snape, of Camelot Way, Small Heath, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to attempting to rob Mr Hodson-Walker and his parents at their shop in Fairfield, Worcestershire, on January 9. Christopher Morrissey, of Sheldon, Birmingham; Declan Morrissey, of Shirley, Solihull; and Ribera, of Druids Heath, Birmingham; all pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
All four denied possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, while Declan and Christopher Morrissey pleaded not guilty to a robbery that allegedly took place on December 31 last year. Mr Hodson-Walker, 29, was gunned down at the store in Stourbridge Road, Fairfield, and died from his injuries. His father, Ken Hodson-Walker, also suffered gunshot wounds to the chest. All the defendants were remanded in custody and their trial will begin on October 6.
