29/06/2009 - Pups stolen from dog-grooming firm
Thieves have stolen a litter of puppies and their mother from a dog-grooming business in County Antrim.
The two-year-old Chihuahua is thought to be worth around £1,000 and the four Chihuahua puppies are valued at £800 each.
Police said the animals were taken from the business on the Finvoy Road, Ballymoney after 9.30pm.
Chihuahuas are the smallest bred of dog in the world and are named after a state in Mexico.
The value of the dogs has increased in recent years with celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Mickey Rourke all fans of the tiny miniature pups.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said: "Police are keen to speak to anyone with information, or anyone who may have been in the area and who noticed any suspicious activity."
