20/10/2009 - Shopworkers confronted by bear
Animal handlers had to be called out to a grocery shop in Wisconsin after a black bear wandered in, WEAU-TV reported.
The bear, weighing 125lb, turned up at Marketplace Foods in Hayward, 140 miles north east of Minneapolis, and headed straight through the automatic doors.
It then made its way to the alcohol section, where it climbed into the beer chiller, and sat on a shelf 12 feet high, sitting there calmly for around an hour.
Meanwhile, employees evacuated customers and summoned wildlife experts from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to collect the bear. It was tranquillised and removed from the shop.
Store workers said the bear had seemed content in the fridge - and did not consume any alcohol.
