24/09/2009 - Worker attacked for cigarette refusal

Police investigating an assault on a convenience store worker in Plymouth want witnesses to come forward

Officers were called to the premises in Embankment Road just after 6pm on August 18 where the manageress reported that she had refused to sell a young woman with cigarettes unless she proved her age.

She left the store and returned with the suspect a short while later. He became aggressive and struck the victim, a woman in her 20s, in the face. She escaped any serious injury.

While in the shop the man spoke and it is believed that English is not his first language. He is of muscular build, with a shaven head. He was wearing a red vest and blue jeans.
