19/04/2010 - Woman banned from licensed premises

A court has ordered a 20-year-old woman to be banned from drinking at all licensed premises in England and Wales, police have said.

Worcestershire's Kidderminster Magistrates' Court also barred Laura Hall from all off-licences under its drinking banning order.

Hall, formerly from the Stoke Heath area of Bromsgrove, will not be allowed to consume or buy alcohol in pubs under the order that lasts until April 2012, West Mercia Police said.

Her ban also prohibits her from drinking in nightclubs, membership clubs or hotels and from purchasing alcohol in shops and off licences.

Although she has also been barred from consuming liquor in public, it may be lifted after 12 months if she completes an alcohol misuse course and sticks to its terms.

The police had applied for the ban on Hall after her involvement in many alcohol-related public order offences in and around the Bromsgrove area.

The pub-watch scheme had already ensured that she was excluded from local licensed premises.

Drinking banning orders, or DBOs, were introduced by the Home Office in September 2009 to prevent individuals who are causing alcohol-related disorder from entering specified licensed premises.
