31/08/2010 - Hundreds of pigs die in farm blaze
A fire at a farm in Lincolnshire has killed hundreds of piglets and sows, according to the fire service.
About 600 piglets and 168 sows have died in the blaze, which caused "100% severe damage" to the animal sheds at the North Moor Farm in Caistor Road, Market Rasen, a spokeswoman for the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said.
She explained that crews of firefighters were called to the farm, already engulfed in fire, at around 10pm on Friday.
The fire service said the blaze was caused by an electrical fault.
