04/08/2010 - Plumber's stolen work van burnt out
A plumber from Wiltshire lost work equipment worth £4,000 after his van was stolen by thieves and set on fire.
Howard Croker, a resident of Corsham, had left his white Mercedes Vito on a driveway with the engine running. When he returned less than a minute later, it was gone.
The van needed eight police patrol cars to track it down, but when it was found in Atworth, it was completely burnt out.
Mr Croker runs his 40-year-old business with wife Heather and sons Darren and David.
Mrs Croker said: "It is just devastating. My husband has been left with nothing. He doesn't even have a spanner.
"What hurts most is that they say they blow up the vehicles because it gives them a kick or a buzz. We never expected anything like this in Corsham."
