23/08/2010 - Thieves steal 400 young pheasants
Police are on the lookout for thieves who stole 400 young pheasants in raids on two farms in Leicestershire.
The birds, worth about £1,300, were stolen from cages on Watborough Farm, in Tilton-on-the-Hill on August 7, and from Limes Farm in nearby Gaulby on August 17, according to Leicestershire Police.
Pc Chris Hill, from the force, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who has been offered a large number of pheasants, or who knows where they may have been kept.
"The birds are probably too small to be used for human consumption, and too small to fly, so they may have been taken elsewhere until they are more mature."
