15/02/2010 - £100k of whisky stolen from yard
Thieves have stolen two articulated trailers containing £100,000-worth of whisky from a transport yard in Dumfries, it has emerged.
The trailers were taken from the yard of transport firm Curries between 6.30pm on Thursday and 4pm on Friday and contained thousands of bottles of Grant's whisky. The thieves towed the 32-tonne trailers from the yard using their own articulated tractor.
Police are now examining CCTV footage of the yard, which is lit up at night and has security personnel. Anyone who saw the Curries trailers being towed through the region around the time of the theft is encouraged to contact police.
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said they want to hear from anyone who was in the area of the yard, in the Heathhall area of Dumfries, which exits onto the main A701 road running through Heathhall and Locharbriggs.
The trailers are yellow and have the Curries insignia on the side.
