09/02/2010 - Thieves steal lorry load of Lego

Thieves stole a lorry load of Lego and beauty products after gagging, binding, abducting and then abandoning the driver of the vehicle, police have confirmed.

The driver was woken in the cabin of his lorry at around 4am at a layby at services on the A14 westbound at Kettering, Northamptonshire. He was then "gagged, tied up and forcibly removed" from the cabin and transferred to another vehicle, said police.

"He was transported to Staffordshire where he was abandoned, unharmed," a spokesman explained. "His lorry was found in Merseyside, damaged by fire.

"A significant quantity of Lego and beauty products were stolen, with a high value."

Northamptonshire Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward. The lorry had a "MAN" cabin unit with the trailer attached.
