21/01/2010 - 'Chicken licker' jailed over damage
A shelf-stacker, thought to have licked a piece of frozen chicken before putting it back on the shelf, has been jailed.
Adeel Ayub is believed to have licked the poultry in a mobile phone video clip recorded by co-workers at the Asda store where he worked in Fulwood, Preston.
The 30-year-old was arrested after the video clip found its way onto YouTube. Mr Ayub, of Spinney Brow, Ribbleton, Preston, pleaded guilty to five counts of criminal damage, between August 2005 and September 2008.
The criminal damage included destroying a fire extinguisher and damaging clothing at the store. The chicken licking, which Ayub denied, did not form part of the charges. However, he did admit stamping on the meat.
He was jailed at Preston Magistrates' Court for 56 days on each of the five counts, to run concurrently, according to a spokeswoman for the court.
