08/07/2010 - F1 star's mother rescued from fire
The mother of Formula One world champion Jenson Button was among 60 guests who had to be evacuated from a hotel during a blaze, it was disclosed today.
Simone Button was one of the guests at the Premier Inn Hotel in Brackley Hatch, near Syresham, Northamptonshire, when the fire broke out on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at the hotel, next to the Green Man pub on the A43, at 9.45pm.
The hotel is popular with visitors to the British Grand Prix at nearby Silverstone, set to take place this weekend.
Police said nobody was injured and 60 guests were taken to other hotels in the surrounding area.
Today it emerged Jenson Button's mother was in one of the rooms that was later ravaged by fire.
Speaking from the paddock at Silverstone today, Button said: "Half the hotel burnt down but mum's room was one of those that got burnt.
"She has lost a few possessions but other than that she is fine."
