10/06/2010 - Council lets pub fly flag for Cup

A landlord has been told an England flag decoration on the side of his listed pub must be painted over, but not until England have won the World Cup.

Phil Taylor painted the Cross of St George on the outside wall of the Kings Head in Loddon, Norfolk, without permission and the council has given him eight weeks to redecorate.

A South Norfolk Council spokesman said: "We think that should be enough time for England to get to the final and for everyone to celebrate.

"We have to enforce the law but we also want England to win - and we want to give local pubs all the help we can."
