21/06/2010 - Hotel chain bans noisy vuvuzelas
The vuvuzela has been banned at one hotel chain, which says it does not want sleeping customers disturbed by the din from the plastic horns.
Premier Inn said it will stop football fans from taking the instrument to hotel bars and restaurants when matches are on.
The move has been prompted by the annoying levels of noise created by customers watching England play Algeria.
A spokeswoman for the group said the ban would be in place for the remainder of the World Cup and extended if necessary.
She said around a hundred fans watched Friday's game on the big screen at the Heathrow branch of the chain.
"There were loads of people in and the manager could not ask the ones with vuvuzelas to stop playing because there was no policy but staff are emphatic they don't want people playing them any more," she said.
"Although guests don't complain we are worried they won't want to come back and we don't want to put off people who aren't football fans.
"Guests who bring the horns into our bars will be asked to take them back to their rooms, even if they are not playing them."
