08/03/2010 - Golf club robbers' images released
Robbers who have been targeting empty locker rooms in golf clubs have had their images released.
The two prolific golf club raiders are thought to have stolen £750,000 in a string of nationwide raids. In the past 15 months, the pair are suspected to have struck at last 60 times while clubhouses were open for business.
The two criminals' modus operandi involves walking into the clubs in either early afternoon or late evening and stealing items from empty locker rooms.
The new images clearly show the two men in locker rooms at Dainton Park in south Devon removing clubs from lockers. The CCTV stills are taken from two separate offences on July 29, 2008 and June 8 last year.
Police in Lancashire are investigating burglaries at golf clubs across the UK including Taunton Vale Golf Club in Somerset and Oakmere Park Golf Club in Nottingham, which were both targeted in March 2009.
Clubs across Lancashire were targeted between April and September 2009, with Hurlston Hall golf club, Ormskirk golf club, Dean Wood golf club in Upholland, Chorley golf club and Ashton and Lea golf club at Preston burgled in just one day.
