03/09/2010 - Engineer crushed to death in press
An engineer was crushed to death at a car parts factory after getting trapped in an industrial press, an inquest has heard.
Paul Clark was called to repair the press at the Thyssen Krupp Tallent factory in Country Durham but became trapped in the machine as he worked on it.
The 52-year-old maintenance engineer from Newton Aycliffe died at the scene last July.
The Health and Safety Executive is looking into whether any action be taken against the car parts firm over the incident, the inquest heard.
A verdict of accidental death was recorded by an inquest jury sitting at Chester-le-Street Magistrates' Court.
