03/09/2010 - Hunt for missing 'tiny people'
English Heritage is offering an amnesty for information on 10 miniature figures that have gone missing from an art exhibition in Northumberland.
The tiny people, measuring between 3cm and 4cm, formed part of an exhibit called Day Trippers and were placed around the gardens at Belsay estate for the Extraordinary Measures exhibition.
Crafted by London street artist Slinkachu out of plastic and resin, the miniatures represented everyday activities such as resting on a park bench or having an ice cream.
Organisers believe the Day Trippers may have been taken home by eagle-eyed visitors as souvenirs and are keen to know where the figures have ended up.
Belsay Hall visitor operations manager Lynn Rylance told the Journal in Newcastle: "Slinkachu's little people proved so popular that the visitors who were lucky enough to spot the original versions took them home with them as a memento.
"English Heritage is now really interested to know where these tiny people now live - perhaps one is sitting in your kitchen or maybe one has even travelled through the UK on a car dashboard - and is holding a no-grudge amnesty to find out where the tiny hand-painted figures have gone to."
