09/09/2010 - New guard for Banksy art in shop
Owners of a store have strengthened security to safeguard two original artworks that were secretly installed in the shop by a famous artist.
The British graffiti artist, who goes by the name Banksy and whose works sell for tens of thousands of pounds, had placed the works - a 8ft by 4ft canvas painting and another artwork stencilled on an oil can - in an HMV store in London's Oxford Street.
The store has now hired a security officer to stand guard close to the window displaying the works.
Store staff, who were expecting a window display of posters promoting the artist's movie Exit Through The Gift Shop, were surprised to find the pieces of art instead.
Banksy's team was let inside the store on Sunday to prepare the display themselves.
Staff who returned for work on Monday found the two artworks along with spray cans and brushes left behind, leading them to believe that the works could have been created on-site.
